Ad-Base Systems, Inc. Achieves National Ranking for Fast Growth
Technology Provider Ranks 199 on Inc. 500 list of Fastest Growing Companies in the U.S.
PITTSBURGH – October 27th, 2005 – The rapid growth of Ad-Base Systems has caught the attention of Inc. magazine, which ranked it as 199th on its list of the 500 fastest-growing private companies in the country. Announced on Oct. 20, 2005, the Inc. 500 list annually recognizes companies that have grown as much as 1000 percent, firms that have often overcome limited start-up funding and tough odds in fully established markets.
During the past three years, Ad-Base Systems, Castle Shannon/Mt. Lebanon, posted sales growth in excess of 558 percent with revenue of $10,239,899 in 2004 and employment growth of 33 percent. Ad-Base currently has 40 employees across two subsidiary companies: GlobalPOPs, a national leader in wholesale Internet services; and PghConnect, a regional Internet service provider.
“We are passionate about technology, so we have been able to capitalize on new markets within our base business of Internet services,” said Jeff Tapolci, president of Ad-Base. “We have observed our customers operations closely, and provided solutions to their computer-related needs. Our reputation for dependability and innovative services has led to fast, steady growth for Ad-Base.”
Entrants applying to be considered for the Inc. 500 were judged on sales growth from 2001 to 2004, with minimum revenue in the base year of $500,000. In their report, Inc. noted there were four operating modes that allowed the Inc. 500 CEOs to build their firms: “driving to beat the odds, adapting on the fly, spotting the leverage points and recruiting the world.”
Ad-Base was founded in 1992 by Pittsburgh-native Jerry Tapolci with his wife, Judy. In 1997 Ad-Base became an Internet Service Provider (ISP) offering broadband Internet access via ISDN and T1 lines to business customers. In 2000, Ad-Base became one of the first Pittsburgh based SDSL providers. In 2001, Ad-Base formed PghConnect as its formal Internet service company and started providing local and national dial-up Internet access services. Ad-Base formed GlobalPOPs as its carrier-class provider of wholesale dial-up and managed modem solutions.
In October 2005, Ad-Base was selected as the 12th Best Place to Work among companies in Western Pennsylvania in 2005. In August 2005, the company was named as the second fastest growing company in Pittsburgh, PA, making the Annual Pittsburgh 100, for the second year in a row. All lists are compiled by the Pittsburgh Business Times.
