Ad-Base Systems, Inc. Honored with Pittsburgh Business Times Fastest-Growing Companies Award
Leading Technology Provider Ranks 13th among Pittsburgh 100
PITTSBURGH - September 4, 2004 - Ad-Base Systems, Inc. (Ad-Base) has been named to the Pittsburgh Business Times Annual Pittsburgh 100, honoring the region's 100 fastest-growing, privately held companies.
Now led by second generation family member Jeff Tapolci, Ad-Base Systems includes two subsidiary companies: GlobalPOPs, a national leader in wholesale Internet services; and PghConnect, a regional Internet Service Provider.
Ad-Base was ranked fifth out of 18 companies in the Technology category and 13 overall. During the past three years, Ad-Base posted sales growth in excess of 184% and employment growth of 79%.
"We're pleased to be recognized as one of the top 100 fastest-growing companies in Pittsburgh", said Judy Tapolci, who founded the company with her husband Jerry in 1986. "We've been able to achieve rapid growth in spite of weak economic conditions. We think that is a reflection of providing a superior customer experience for every customer."
Now in its seventh year, the Pittsburgh 100 is a comprehensive ranking of companies by percentage increase in sales and employment over a three-year period. To qualify for this year's competition, a business had to achieve $500,000 in revenue in 2000, and increase its 2002 sales over the previous year. Pittsburgh 100 companies represent a wide variety of categories, including Technology, Environmental, Health Care, Manufacturing, Real Estate/Construction/Development, Retail/Wholesale Distribution and Service.
Headquartered in the Castle Shannon/Mt. Lebanon section of Pittsburgh, Ad-Base was founded in 1992 by Pittsburgh-native Jerry Tapolci with his wife, Judy. Sheer determination, a passion for technology, and a reputation for dependability fueled steady growth. In 1997 Ad-Base became an Internet Service Provider (ISP) offering broadband Internet access via ISDN and T1 lines to business customers. In 2000 Ad-Base became one of the first Pittsburgh based SDSL providers. In 2001 Ad-Base formed PghConnect as its formal Internet Service Company and started providing local and national dial-up Internet access services. Seeing a new vertical market in late 2001, Ad-Base formed GlobalPOPs as its carrier-class provider of wholesale dialup and managed modem solutions. GlobalPOPs helps resellers and service providers meet their customers' demands by providing competitive pricing, redundancy and the nation's largest footprint in the industry.
